i came into the world high summer

if i had chatgpt i’d ask it whether or not some of the things i say are passable. like, hey chat, how much wiggle room does a person have when someone asks them to swear on something?

i’d ask because i hate being asked to swear on something. it’s so taboo. don’t make me do it. it’s not fair. nothing worth asking to be sworn on is ever so black or white. swearing on something neglects the necessity of nuance.

i’d probably ask chat a lot of questions about my body too. i’d ask it to tell me if i’m healthy, what i should eat, and if i should be worried about my skin or other organs. how’re my kidneys doing, chat? my heart, is it ok? i’d request information on living forever. it would probably tell me not to smoke or drink, which seems about as unreasonable as being asked to swear on something. one has to enjoy themselves. i was raised by gluttons. i like to have a good time.

i’m pretty sure chatgpt would increase my anxiety. how would i even trust chat in the first place, and if i came to, what if i don’t agree with chat sometimes? what if i get suspicious and start to feel like chat doesn’t know what it’s talking about? what if my gut is going against what chat is telling me? what happens to my intuition? what happens to fucking around and finding out? what happens to mystery, chat!? answers can only go so far. what about one’s feelings? instinct reigns supreme. there’s a lot to learn in a state of wonder.

i think about these things. i know a lot of people who swear by their chat, asking it hundreds of questions a day. they’re in love with it, they say. would be lost without it. it’s their new favorite god. but me? i don’t want to fall in love with chat, and i’m in a state of trying to get lost in a few other things. i sure as hell wouldn’t question god. so i’ll be staying away.

it’s morning and i’m drinking hot coffee with hot milk i frothed with my new frother. it’s the same frother my roommate in san francisco had. he’s a fancy guy, which is my way of telling you it’s a fancy frother. it came with batteries and its own stand and everything. i bought it half off during amazon prime day. i bought it because i like warm fluffy milk in my coffee and tea. like i said, i was raised by gluttons. i like things a little extra a lot of the time.

d- used the frother to make whipped cream on my birthday last week. chat probably would have warned against using it for the whip. chat probably would have warned against a lot of things about d- at this point. i can only imagine what chat would think about me if i’d asked it all the questions i’ve wondered about him over the last 5+ years. chat would have been dog tired of me by now.

maybe i’m dog tired of me too, so maybe that’s something chat and i could have in common. just saying enough is enough. but i don’t think chat is programmed to say enough is enough, and i don’t know i am either. that can be another thing we have in common. chat and i are thoroughbreds. we were born to ride.
